Description

This is a time lapse/animation of a solar coronal mass ejection that I was lucky enough to capture on August 27, 2022. It always takes me more time to process the images and I’m still going through a lot of data from last year with this being one of my favorites so far. At first the activity was fairly normal around this sunspot and I was taking one image every 3 minutes but while doing so, I started to see the ejection taking place and decided to reduce the time between frames to 2 minutes. There are a total of 52 frames that were spread over two hours. As can be seen, this CME is fairly large moving very rapidly. The image is processed using by using a colorized positive. It shows some interesting detail in MHO but will also post other color schemes of the same CME.It was taken with my 150mm f-15/33 folded refractor. If you’re interested in a bit more about me and the telescope, feel free to watch a presentation that I gave to The Astro Imaging Channel (awesome site) on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm5boF-5hpc&t=3370s
